- Races are open to all members of the Caversham Harrier Club.
- The walking races are for recreation walkers.
- Please consult the Club Syllabus for the dates of the races.
TED BROWN MEMORIAL AND ASSOCIATED RACES
These are 1500m races held at the early part of the season with the results often used as a guide to choosing teams for the Lovelock Relays Four races are held as follows:
Ted Brown Memorial Cup
A 1500m handicap race for non-maiden runners 16 years or older. The winner holds the Ted Brown Memorial Cup for one year.
J W McStay Memorial Cup
A 1500m handicap race for a runner who is 16 years or over who has never won a first prize in a running race of 800m or longer as a senior (maiden runner). The winner holds the JW McStay Memorial Cup for one year.
Colts Challenge Cup
An 800m handicap race for all runners 15 years and under. The winner holds the Colts Challenge Cup for one year.
1500m Walkers Cup
A 1500m scratch race for all walkers. This race gives the handicapper an idea of each walker's level of fitness for the handicapping for future races. The winner holds the 1500m Walkers Cup for one year.
VICE-PRESIDENTS 5000 METRE RACES
This event is held at Forbury Park Raceway in conjunction with the Civil Service Harrier Club with each Club taking turns at hosting the other Club. One lap of the course equals 1000m.
Three races are held as follows:
5000m Handicap Race
- Open to runner 16 years and over.
- The winner holds the Morris Cup for one year.
- The fastest man holds the Henderson Cup for one year.
- The fastest woman holds the Woman's Trustees Tray for one year.
1000m Handicap Race
- Open to all runners 15 years and under.
- The winner holds the Pat Sidon Cup for one year.
5000m Handicap Walkers Race
- Open to all walkers.
- The winner holds the 5000m Walkers Cup for one year.
BRIGHTON TO GREEN ISLAND ROAD RACES
This is a 9.6km road race that starts at the Brighton Recreation Reserve and ends approximately near the entrance to the Green Island Refuse Station on the opposite side of the road. Participants run on the right-hand side (running towards the traffic) of the road at all times and on the footpath where possible.
Three races are held as follows:
Junior Race
- A handicap road race over 4km for boys and girls 15 years and under.
- from Brighton to Ocean View and return.
- The winner holds the McGlinchy Cup for one year.
- The fastest runner (boy or girl) holds the Ufton Challenge Cup for one year.
Open Race
- A handicap road race for runner 16 years or over.
- The winner holds the Butterfield Trophy for one year.
- The fastest man holds the Cuthbertson Cup for one year.
- The fastest woman holds the Women's Trustees Tray for one year.
Walkers Race
- A handicap race for walkers.
- The winner holds the Walkers Brighton - Green Island Cup for one year.
NOTE:
Caversham Harriers opens the Brighton to Green Island Road Races to all harrier clubs every five year e.g. 2010, 2015, 2020 etc.
CLUB CROSS-COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP RACES
- This event is held at Brockville Park.
- The walking race starts first with the runner's races starting shortly thereafter.
- Each competitor finishes when they have completed their required distance according to what race they are entered in.
- One lap equals 2000 metres.
Nine races are held as follows:
Open Men
- An 8000m (4 laps) race for any man 20 years or over.
- The winner holds the Club Cross-Country Championship Trophy for one year.
- First man 40 years or over across the line to be named Masters Club Champion.
- A sealed handicap. (Where the handicapper applies "secret" handicaps to all race competitors before the race. These are kept in a sealed envelope. A winner is announced when taking into account finishing times in conjunction with the handicap.)
- The handicap winner holds the Jim Hales Memorial Cup for one year.
- The championship winners are not eligible for the sealed handicap.
Junior Men
- A 6000m (3 lap) race for any man 16 to 19 years.
- The winner holds the Social Cup for one year.
- A sealed handicap is also run with this race.
- The handicap winner holds the Dodds Cup for one year.
- The championship winner is not eligible for the sealed handicap.
Boys
- A 4000m (2 laps) race for boys 15 years and under.
- The winner holds the Lucas Shield for one year.
Masters 50
- A 4000m (2 laps) race for men and woman 50 years or over.
Open Women
- A 6000m (3 laps) race for any women 20 years or over.
- The winner holds the Women's Cross-Country Championship Trophy for one year.
- The first woman 40 years of age or older across the line shall be named the Masters Woman Club Champion.
Junior Women
- A 4000m (2 laps) race for any woman 19 years or under.
- The winner holds the Junior Women's Cross-Country Trophy for one year.
Walkers
- A 4000m (2 laps) race open to all walkers.
- The winner holds the Open Walkers Cup for one year.
